About the project

about1The dialogue academies were conceived and developed as part of the Embedding Dialogue and Debate project which ran from January 2009 until December 2010. It was supported through a Wellcome Trust Society Award, applied for by At-Bristol in collaboration with:

Expertise from the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester was also included.

The aim of the project was to embed dialogue surrounding all areas of bioscience within the culture of science and discovery centres, and the science engagement community in general. Through this dialogue we hope to create a culture of discussion, where people can be encouraged to consider and question key issues, particularly in relation to the ethical issues within the biosciences.

We asked people who came on the academies to share their learning with their colleagues and to ‘spread the word’ of dialogue! To help them with this, and so that others new to the field can also learn, this website includes the resources created for the academies. The resources are free to download and we hope that you will find them useful in understanding more about dialogue and why it is so important for our sector.
